The community is extremely vocal about what it doesn't like, and has been throughout the lifecycle of Diablo 3, so we're hopeful that Blizzard will take this feedback from players fortunate enough to have played large parts of the game before it's released. These are post-game bits of content that change the way legendary items work as well as remixing the content of the base game making it a replayable game already replayable. Seasons were included for a considerable amount during Diablo 3, so we're hopeful that they'll become majorly featured in Diablo 2 Resurrected.
This seasonal approach is also setting Diablo 2 Resurrected up to be another compelling Game Pass game, should the merger eventually close. A game like Diablo that has solid gameplay is the perfect match for a service that allows players who want to play Live games in a couple of months. However considering that the game is due to release in June and the battle for what the future holds for Activision continuing to be fought this is one game which is unlikely to receive an Game Pass treatment on day one, unless something substantial happens to it.
If we were to bet we'd bet that the goal the developers have set for Diablo 2 Resurrected.4 is, when the game finally launches players from the community that were outraged, and rightly so, about Diablo 2 Resurrected sit back and look around and think "oh well, we're playing Diablo."
Even though there's still cosmetic microtransactions available, and the online connectivity is forced and feels as if it's going to get some negative reactions, the contrast between the loot box-obsessed, incredibly humorous mobile game and the loot box-loving, incredibly cynical mobile title be a breath of fresh air. Even the players that got hooked by Immortal were able to do it because it was a little bit of the unique Diablo special sauce that distinguishes this series from other games which is why a game with a ton of it will surely achieve success.
