3 Days Radha Ashtami Barsana - Complete Itinerary
If you are planning to experience Radha Ashtami the right way, three days is just about perfect. Here is how you can plan your trip so you do not miss anything important.
Day 1: Mathura
Visit ghats and temples in Mathura such as Krishna Janmabhoomi temple, Dwarkadhish temple and vishram ghat.
In the evening, go to the Yamuna ghats for the aarti. If you have time left, walk through the nearby market as well. Make sure to not miss the Ganga Ghat Aarti if you are in Mathura.
Day 2: Vrindavan
Spend your second day exploring Vrindavan.
Banke Bihari, ISKCON Vrindavan, and Prem Mandir are must-visits here.
You will already start noticing extra flowers, decorations, and a buzz in the air, since Radha Ashtami Barsana celebrations often spill into Vrindavan a day or two early.
Stick around for the evening bhajans; they are louder and more alive during this time of the year.
Day 3: Barsana
This is the day when your radha ashtami barsana tour really begins.
Reach the Radha Rani Temple early, since it fills up fast.
You will see processions, flower decoration everywhere and traditional folk performances all day long, which bring the whole town to life.
This is really where Radha Ashtami Barsana shows its true spirit; the entire town feels like one big celebration of Radha Rani's birth.
A Few Things to Keep in Mind
Book your hotel well in advance, since rooms go fast during festival season.
Wear comfortable shoes; you will be walking a lot more than usual.
And keep some cash on hand for offerings and the little stalls that pop up everywhere during the celebrations.
