Noida to Varanasi by Road: Distance and Ways to Travel
So you are thinking of driving from Noida to Varanasi. Good call, but let's be real about the distance first because a lot of people underestimate it until they're actually three hours in and still nowhere close.
1. It is a longer drive than it looks on the map
We are talking somewhere around 800-830 km, give or take, depending on which route you end up taking. That is roughly 13-15 hours if you drive straight through without stopping much, which, let's be honest, almost nobody actually does. Most people end up splitting it across two days instead of trying to be a hero and finish it in one shot.
2. You will mostly be on NH19 and NH34
The usual route goes Noida, then Lucknow, then down towards Varanasi, cutting through Kanpur and Prayagraj (still called Allahabad by half the dhabas along the way, funnily enough). It's a route a lot of people drive, so you won't struggle to find a place to stop for chai or food.
3. Break the drive up; do not push through
Kanpur or Prayagraj is the natural spot to stop for the night. Trying to do the whole stretch in one go is just asking for a tired, cranky group by the time you reach it.
4. What you drive actually matters here
A sedan's fine if it is just you or a couple. But if there is a group involved, going for a tempo traveller on rent in Noida makes a real difference more room to stretch out, space for bags, and everyone's a lot less exhausted at the end.
5. Leave early if you can
Roads are decent for most of the way, but Delhi-NCR traffic in the morning can eat up more time than you had thought, so an early start helps you actually reach Varanasi before it gets dark.
